Prescott College Southern offers a variety of clubs and activities that allow students to explore their interests and build meaningful friendships.

Chess Tuition 2026
Students in F-12 have the opportunity to learn chess at both beginner and advanced levels. A chess master will be available for instruction during lunch periods on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from the library. Students enrolled in the advanced chess class can also participate in the Interschool Chess Tournament held each term, with finals occurring in Term 4. The tournaments feature both team and individual competitive categories.
Year 3 Violin Class 2026
This only occurs at the beginning of the year and there is a commitment to half a year .
To support the ongoing viability of the program, students are asked to commit for one semester (six months).
- Enrolment is limited to 8 students on a first-come, first-served basis.
Instrument Requirements:
- To participate, students must hire or purchase their own violin.
- Violins can be hired for approximately $58 per term. This can be organised through the school via Size Music. Alternatively, families may purchase or borrow their own violins.
We are pleased to offer Year 3 students the opportunity to learn how to play the violin in a small group class led by our violin tutor, Mrs Jackie Walton. Weekly lessons are fully funded by the school. This class provides an excellent introduction to playing the violin and reading music, serving as a foundational step towards joining the Prescott College Southern String Ensemble.
Instrumental Tuition 2026
Students have the opportunity to learn how to play an instrument through private tuition during school hours. Instruments offered include: piano, violin, guitar, voice and drums. Additional instruments may be available if a qualified tutor can be sourced.
To participate, students are required to own, hire or purchase their own instrument
Senior Primary Choir Registration 2026
Prescott College Southern is delighted to offer students in Years 4–6 the opportunity to join our Senior Choir. This engaging program provides young singers with the chance to develop their vocal skills, build confidence, and enjoy making music together.
The Senior Choir rehearses once a week for a 45-minute session.
We look forward to welcoming enthusiastic young voices to this enriching musical experience.
Junior Choir Registration 2026
Prescott College Southern provides opportunities for children in the younger grades to enjoy singing in the Junior Choir.
Junior Choir is open to students in Foundation to Year 3, rehearses once a week for 30 minutes from mid-Term 1, during class time. Provides opportunities to learn singing in unison and rounds with optional solo auditions, takes place during theme studies
and offers performance opportunities at across the school year events such as the Primary Music Showcase Evening, assemblies and Christmas.
String Ensemble Registration 2026– Years 4 to 12
Prescott College Southern warmly invites students in Years 4–12 with experience playing the violin, viola, or cello to join our String Ensemble. The ensemble is led by our dedicated string teacher, Mrs Jackie Walton, and is designed to support intermediate and experienced players who enjoy performing and developing their skills in a collaborative environment.
The String Ensemble is a school-sponsored program and is offered at no cost to participating families. To support the ongoing viability of the program, students are asked to commit for one semester (six months). Rehearsals take place every week.
Families are responsible for arranging the rental or purchase of instruments, which can be organised through Size Music on 1800 023 335.
We look forward to supporting and showcasing the talents of our young string musicians.
Southern Guitar Ensemble 2026
Prescott College Southern is excited to invite students in Years 3-12 with guitar experience or those currently taking guitar lessons to join our Guitar Ensemble.
The Guitar Ensemble is a school-sponsored program and is offered at no cost to participating families. To support the ongoing viability of the program, students are asked to commit for one semester (six months).
