Primary School: Foundation to Year 6
The Primary Years
At Prescott College Southern, our Primary School provides a caring, Christ-centred learning environment throughout Foundation to Year 6, where children are encouraged to thrive academically, socially, and spiritually. The values of respect, kindness, and resilience are encouraged, helping students grow in confidence and character throughout the primary years.
Our teaching follows the Australian Curriculum, with a strong focus on literacy and numeracy. Students also explore Science, Humanities, Health and PE, the Arts and Technology, ensuring a well-rounded education from the very beginning. Students enjoy specialist lessons in areas such as music, physical education, digital technologies, and languages, enriching their learning experience. These are taught by specialist teachers in purpose-built facilities to help make the subject come alive. To round off the experience our Christian values are woven into daily learning through devotions, chapel services and Encounter classes.
Differentiated Curriculum
We recognise that every child learns differently, and because of this we don’t use a ‘one size fits all’ approach to the classroom experience. Our teachers personalise lessons to support each student’s strengths and needs and in class support is prioritised where it is needed. Whether your child requires extra support or extension, we work to help them achieve their best.
Preparing for the Future
At Prescott College Southern, our Primary School is more than just the start of an education. It’s the beginning of a journey where children discover their potential, grow in faith, and develop a love for learning. As students approach the senior years of primary school, we support them with a smooth transition into our Secondary School, ensuring they feel confident and ready for the next stage of learning. This allows our students to finish Year 6 ready to take on the opportunities that lie ahead.
