Student Support and Wellbeing
Whole-School Commitment to Student Wellbeing
We are dedicated to cultivating a thriving school environment where every student feels empowered, supported, and connected. Our approach integrates proactive and preventative practices that promote student flourishing and foster a deep sense of belonging, security, and connectedness across the campus.
Through a whole-school focus, collaborating closely with leadership teams, class teachers, and student support staff, we nurture personal responsibility, resilience, and social-emotional growth. Our culture is built on a positive ethos that encourages learning engagement and maximises each student’s experience and achievement.
Central to this commitment is our Wellbeing Centre which is a safe, welcoming hub led by qualified counsellors, offering students a space to seek help, feel heard, and access a range of wellbeing services.
We also deliver impactful initiatives such as the Week of Wellbeing, the P.A.R.T.Y Program, R U OK? Day, The Encounter and Quest programs, alongside workshops and guest speakers that address the real-world challenges and opportunities facing young people in the 21st century.
Together, these efforts form a dynamic and inclusive framework that supports every student’s journey, academically, socially, and emotionally.
Student Pastoral Care
At Prescott College Southern, student wellbeing is nurtured through a holistic pastoral care program that supports emotional, spiritual, and academic growth. Our chaplains play a vital role in building a compassionate and connected community, offering spiritual guidance, sharing Bible stories in classrooms, and providing personal support to students and families.
In addition to chaplaincy services, we offer access to a qualified school counsellor who supports students across both primary and secondary campuses. A clear referral process ensures families can access this service when needed.
To help new students feel welcome, our buddy programs pair Reception students with Year 4 mentors, and new arrivals with peers in their year level, fostering friendships and easing transitions. In Middle School, students engage in targeted activities that promote emotional regulation, resilience, healthy choices, and preparation for adulthood.
Academic support is also a key focus. Our comprehensive Homework Program ensures students in Years 7–9 receive ability-based tasks in English and Mathematics, while senior students complete subject-specific assignments. After-school tutoring is available daily in the library and during school holidays, providing valuable guidance for students who need extra help.
Student Support Officers (SSOs)
At Prescott College Southern, our Student Support Officers (SSOs) are the quiet champions of student success, working seamlessly across classrooms and behind the scenes to ensure every learner is supported, challenged, and cared for.
SSOs form an essential part of our wellbeing and learning framework.
